Product Owner – Squad covering depository and custody processes
JSC Bank of Georgia, the country’s leading financial institution, is looking for a driven and strategically minded Product Owner to lead the development of a modern, automated, and compliant solution within squad covering Depository and Custody Processes.
In this role, you will play a central part in modernizing and streamlining the bank’s responsibilities as a trusted depository and custody service provider for Bank of Georgia’s existing and potential clients. Your focus will be on designing and delivering existing scalable platform that will support core operations such as settlement, safekeeping, corporate actions, asset registration, portfolio valuation, NAV calculation, client-level allocations, and custody services.
You will work closely with internal teams (legal, compliance, operations, IT, finance, treasury), external stakeholders (global banks, asset managers and custodians), and subject matter experts to ensure a solution that meets both regulatory standards and business expectations.
What is the Depository Function?
As a best custody services provider, as per Global Finance, since 2011, we act as a securities settlement and depository service provider to individual and institutional investors. This responsibility involves maintaining a centralized and reliable post trade system for registering asset ownership, settlement, valuation, and corporate action servicing activities.
Our depository function includes:
Tarde Settlement and custody process
Asset Servicing – Corpaote Actions (mandatory and voluntary)
Calculating Net Asset Value (NAV) for funds and portfolios
Reconciling asset and cash positions with internal records and external custodians
Ensuring new product integartions within the system, as business evolves and expands
Producing regulatory and operational reports with full audit trails
Enabling audit readiness and compliance transparency
Serving as the source of truth for investment-related data across the bank
What Are Custody Processes?
As a custodian bank, we provide secure safekeeping and administration of assets on behalf of our clients. Custody services ensure that all assets are held, recorded, and serviced with full operational and legal integrity as agreed with our clients’.
The custody function includes:
Safekeeping of financial assets in a respective account
Settlement of trades and transactions across local and international markets
Processing corporate actions
Maintaining compliance with legal, regulatory, and client-specific rules
Protecting client assets through secure systems and operational controls
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Product Vision: Define and articulate a compelling long-term product vision and roadmap that aligns with the bank’s strategic objectives and regulatory frameworks.
Collaborative Leadership: Build strong, trust-based relationships with business units, legal, compliance, IT, and operations teams to shape product direction and priorities.
Solution Evaluation & Design: Lead the assessment, selection, and integration of technology solutions to automate depository and custody related processes.
Product Communication: Create clear and effective product documentation, including user journeys, process maps, gap analyses, and mock-ups to support alignment and delivery.
Agile Product Ownership: Manage and prioritize the squad backlog, lead Agile ceremonies (e.g., sprint planning, reviews), and ensure disciplined, outcome-oriented delivery.
Compliance-Driven Development: Ensure all features and processes are designed in line with regulatory, legal, and internal policy requirements from the outset.
Risk and Dependency Management: Proactively identify risks and cross-functional dependencies, and facilitate resolution strategies to keep delivery on track.
Testing and Improvement: Oversee user acceptance testing (UAT) and post-deployment monitoring to ensure system stability, usability, and continuous enhancement.
Required Qualifications
Professional Experience
Minimum 2 years of experience in financial services, preferably in financial reporting, credit risk, treasury, custody or asset management, fund administration, or product ownership within the commercial banking.
Solid understanding of custody operations, portfolio/asset valuation, and depository functions.
Welcomed practical experience with Agile methodologies and tools such as Jira, Confluence, or equivalent.
Welcomed proficiency in working with database systems (e.g., Oracle, MS SQL Server, MySQL).
Educational Background
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.
Professional certifications such as CFA or equivalent are considered a strong advantage.
Soft Skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both Georgian and English.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to manage cross-functional relationships.
High attention to detail, with strong analytical and organizational abilities.
Comfortable working in a dynamic and fast-paced environment with shifting priorities.
